VP, Supply Chain - Manufacturing, Production & Operations - Bridgewater, NJ


Position Overview

The VP, Supply Chain will oversee supply planning, warehouse operations, logistics and distribution, procurement, and vendor management.  This position will be responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and support to members of the team, functional leadership, and executive leadership to ensure that Osmotica’s financial and operational goals, processes, and efficiencies are met.  Direct reports include: Director, External Manufacturing and Director, Production Control, Warehouse & Logistics.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that inventory levels of commercial and professional sample drug product meet the demand of Sales, Marketing, and National Accounts requirements
  • Oversee and control the forward-looking plans for inventory and production planning and react to issues such as price increases, changes in contractors, new product launches, and new business development
  • Build and manage a logistics function that allows for minimal inventory requirements and high inventory turnover to minimize obsolescence or expiration as well as high service levels
  • Manage the movement of materials within the commercial supply chain, including deliveries to the designated distribution center(s) as well as deliveries to external partners as needed
  • Oversee warehousing function, including but not limited to storage of all incoming raw materials and supplies, order fulfillment of product, and preparation of product for shipping via transport carrier services
  • Analyze and implement supply chain policies and processes that tighten costs, reduce risk and raise the quality of products for the business
  • Develop sourcing and contracting savings and efficiency strategies for each supply and purchased service category and then executing these strategies through the proper collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Analyze performance and workload data and develop and implement procedural changes, new methods, or automated systems as appropriate, in order to increase efficiency and cost-effectiveness; prepare reports and analyses concerning cost, quality, quantity, standardization and price trends
  • Monitor vendor performance and maintain list of approved vendors who have met established performance standards including: purchase requirements, prices, trade and cash discounts, deliveries, current product development and submission of bids and quotations
  • Lead assessment of key suppliers, and develop improvement plans with suppliers to achieve business KPI’s
  • Supervise and direct assigned staff including monitoring and evaluating work performance, interviewing and hiring staff, conducting training and development, establishing work priorities and scheduling job tasks
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or a related discipline
  • 10+ years of supply chain, logistics, production, and/or material control experience in a regulated environment
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Supply Chain leadership role
  • Advanced knowledge of production processes, supply chain planning, and inventory management
  • Thorough understanding of pharmaceutical GMP regulations
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing teams
  • Ability to manage multiple customer relationships simultaneously with varied levels of complexity
  • Ability to influence, motivate and collaborate across all functional business lines
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, organizational skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  •  Ability to act independently and to take initiative
  • Experience in using and/or implementing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • Requires flexibility to accommodate travel to 3rd party vendor sites or other work locations
